Liverpool are looking to Denmark again for fresh talent with Mathias Jorgensen on Rafa Benitez's radar.
Jakob Friis-Hansen, who is set to be appointed as The Reds' scout in the area, has revealed that Benitez is keeping tabs on the progress of the FC Copenhagen midfielder.
"I have previously advised Liverpool over two Danes, with Daniel Agger and Nicola Savic, both of whom they purchased and are almost too happy with," said Friis-Hansen to Sporten.dk.
"I gave them Mathias Jorgensen's name a long time ago and Liverpool are wild about him. They are keeping very good track of him.
"Liverpool see him as a very promising youngster, like I do, and clearly just like a player who will play for the Danish national team for many years to come."
Meanwhile 14-year-old Dane Marcus Sondergaard is training with the Anfield club's academy.
"It is a great dream that is coming true," the teenager told Ekstra Bladet, but he will not be allowed to move until his 16th birthday.

Alonso to hold Benitez talks

Liverpool welcomed their Euro 2008 winning Spanish contingent back to Melwood today as Xabi Alonso prepared to hold talks with Rafael Benitez over his future.
Alonso, along with Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa, began pre-season training with the Reds after being given extra time off by Benitez following their European Championship glory.
Liverpool attempted to sell Alonso earlier this summer in order to finance a deal for Aston Villa's Garth Barry and the midfielder will discuss his Anfield future with Benitez today with the 26-year-old desperate to remain on Merseyside.
Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Arbeloa is looking for a move back to La Liga due to 'personal reasons' but the Liverpool Echo states that the Reds have had no indication from either the player or his agent that this is the case.

Reds keen on PSG ace

Reports in France claim Liverpool have made a bid to lure Paris Saint Germain young striker David Ngog, cousin of Jean-Alain Boumsong.
Ngog, 19, was told last week by head coach Paul Le Guen he can move on subject to a suitable offer be made and it has been claimed that Rafa Benitez has made an offer to sign the Frenchman.
The Reds’ French scout Laurent Viaud, a former Monaco player, is believed to have suggested the club sign the youngster.
The athletic attacker appeared 19 times in the top flight last season, scoring once at Parc des Princes.
Ngog refused to sign a new deal with the capital club and is under contract until 2009. He was not called up to play the friendly with Clermont last Saturday.

Rafa Benitez believes Gareth Barry could be a Liverpool player within a week.
The Anfield boss - who has finally agreed Peter Crouch's £10million move to Portsmouth - expects to conclude the compromise deal that will mean he pays out the £15m that he bid for the Aston Villa midfielder four days ago.
But it will allow include a series of add-ons, such as further England appearances, which will allow Martin O'Neill to claim he got the total of £18m he has held out for all along.
Villa manager O'Neill effectively showed the door to Barry by banning him from any of the club's premises and fining him two weeks' wages - about £60,000 - for the player's criticism of him.
All that remains to be done is for his departure to Liverpool to be announced and O'Neill is understood to be anxious that the matter be resolved so he and his players can focus completely on the forthcoming season.
Liverpool also expect to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri from Palmeiras for £3m shortly as cover for Pepe Reina.
Cavalieri is organising a work permit and will join new signings Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena.
They will be joined by Barry as Crouch bids farewell to Anfield. Liverpool had hoped they could use the England striker in a part-exchange move for Tottenham's Robbie Keane but Crouch has stuck to his guns and his departure will be confirmed within 48 hours..

Keane 'set to join Liverpool'

Reports suggest that Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.
Keane, along with strike partner Dimitar Berbatov, has been tipped to leave White Hart Lane this summer after Spurs boss Juande Ramos admitted that they may have to be sold to balance the books.
The Liverpool Echo newspaper claim that a deal has almost been done and is expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.
"We're going to see how this ends, but we're speaking about two very important footballers," Ramos had told AS.
"For the moment they are with us but, whatever happens, our plan is to have a good squad with a potential that helps us to do better than last year.
"We have to be realistic, see where we start from and who are going to compete with us. Important clubs have been spending a lot of money for years and have a certain advantage, that's why they say they want to sign our players.
"Obviously we understand there's a top four composed of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, who are the ones that qualified for the Champions League in the last few years and challenging them is very complicated.
"Our aim is to finish in this top four, but we are aware of the fact it's difficult and that other teams will fight for the same goal.
"At Tottenham we have had a clear philosophy regarding buying and selling for years. You need to understand that this club is in the transfer market, a company that needs to debrief at the end of the financial year.

Scott Carson has today signed for Barclays Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion.

The England international goalkeeper has reportedly penned a four-year deal at the Hawthorns after the two clubs struck a deal. Carson made nine Liverpool appearances after signing from Leeds in January 2005. The highlight of his Anfield career came when he featured against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the 2005 Champions League. The past two seasons have been spent on loan at Charlton and Aston Villa, in which time he has won two international caps.

Liverpool have been told to find an extra £5million or else forget about signing Aston Villa's England midfielder Gareth Barry.
Martin O'Neill has finally put a valuation on his skipper after the midfielder launched a sustained personal attack on his manager.
O'Neill valued the player at £18m after speaking to Villa owner Randy Lerner at length yesterday following Barry stepping up his bid to leave Villa Park. Barry hit out at the lack of urgency at his club, demanding a move to Anfield as he laid into O'Neill for taking on a role as a BBC pundit at the European Championship.
Last night O'Neill said he would not stand in Barry's way as long as Liverpool upped the £13m offer received three weeks ago.
O'Neill said: 'The chairman and myself are surprised at what Gareth has said. Contrary to what he alleges, we desperately want to keep him at Villa Park - and he knows that
'We asked both Gareth and his agent to consider what had been discussed in our meeting, including a variety of options to incentivise the player. 'Gareth returned from England's matches at the beginning of June only to reiterate his intention to join Liverpool.
He told me that directly. 'But Liverpool's valuation of Gareth has come short of our own. We have made our position clear. If Liverpool meet our valuation, Gareth will have his express wish to leave Villa Park granted.'
Barry had played a dangerous game when he said he had reached the point of no return.
He signalled his intentions when he said: 'I want to join Liverpool. There's no going back. It's time for me to move on. I'm desperate to play in the Champions League and that's why I have to leave.
'Villa kept saying they wanted me to stay but I have not heard from the manager for weeks. The last time we spoke was just after England's match in Trinidad at the start of June. And that's it.
'It just made me think that he and the club were saying one thing in public but were not really bothered at all about me in private. What other conclusion can you reach?
'It's seven weeks since the season finished but, while the gaffer's found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008, he hasn't found the time to speak to me. But Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has shown how much he wants me at Anfield.

Whether Benitez has the cash at his disposal to push the deal through is questionable. The trail regarding Xabi Alonso's £16m move to Juventus appears to have gone cold for the time being and, with time running out before players return to their clubs, it may be that Barry has to face the music and return to Villa Park before his deal is concluded.

Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb has told Rafa Benitez to forget about signing Stewart Downing.
The 22-year-old England international signed a new, five-year deal in February but that has not deterred Liverpool, who are lining up a £12 million offer.
However Lamb said: 'His best years are ahead of him. In fact, we believe Stewart will become one of the best footballers, not just in Britain but in Europe with Middlesbrough

Galatasaray's move for Itandje leaves Liverpool's Carson in limbo

Galatasaray have made a £2million move for Liverpool goalkeeper Charles Itandje — scuppering Scott Carson's chances of a permanent exit from Anfield in the process.
Former French Under-21 international Itandje, who joined Liverpool from Lens last summer, has agreed a three-year contract with the Turkish champions.
Itandje, 25, made only seven appearances last season — none of them in the Premier League — as cover for Pepe Reina but Liverpool now need to bring in a replacement.
Veteran Bordeaux goalkeeper Ulrich Rame, 35, has been mentioned but otherwise Rafa Benitez wants to keep hold of Carson.
Despite interest from Middlesbrough and Stoke to take him on loan, Benitez has made it clear that he will only let Carson leave on a permanent deal — valuing the England international at £6m.
That has prompted Stoke to offer £1m for Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop instead. Roy Keane will reluctantly sell the 25-year-old but wants double that amount. He turned down a £500,000 offer from Leicester last season.
Grant Leadbitter meanwhile has signed a new three-year dealt at the Stadium of Light. The 22-year-old is now Sunderland’s longest serving player and Keane said: ‘He’s got quality and he’s enthusiastic, he’s a good character. He’s developing and maturing well.’

Chester City last night approached Liverpool to enquire about the availability of central defender, Godwin Antwi.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian-born player is highly thought of at Anfield, but it is understood that they would be receptive to a temporary loan spell, if the player was agreeable.Antwi, who moved to Spain with his family when he was 14 years of age, played for the Real Zaragoza youth team before being spotted by Paco Herrera, who persuaded him to move to Anfield.The player, who was a member of the Liverpool's FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2006, had a loan spell with Accrington Stanley 18 months ago, before spending a year-long temporary period with Hartlepool United last season.During his time in the North East, he made 27 League One appearances for the Victoria Park club.City manager Simon Davies said last night: "We have spoken to Liverpool and if the player is receptive then we would like to bring him to the Deva Stadium on a season-long temporary loan arrangement."Godwin is an exceptional player and he is just the sort of defender that we are looking for. Portsmouth confirm Benayoun and Crouch interest

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in signing Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun.
The Israeli international, who joined the Reds from West Ham United for £5m last summer, has emerged as a potential target for Pompey, as well as Manchester City, although Redknapp believes that it may be difficult to prise Benayoun away from Anfield.
"Of course I'd like to have someone like Yossi Benayoun," said Redknapp. "He's a top player. I don't know what the chances are of getting him out of Liverpool."
Redknapp once again signalled his interest in Peter Crouch, but believes that the Reds' reported £15m asking-price is too much.
"It's known I like Crouchie too," added the Portsmouth coach. "But it doesn't look like anything is happening there. I think Liverpool want a bit too much money for him.
"If that's the case then we'll move on to the next option."
Portsmouth have had a £9m bid for Peter Crouch turned down, even though the striker has only a year left on his Liverpool contract.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp wanted to pay £7m up front with the rest in extras and pair up the 27-year-old with his England colleague Jermain Defoe.

Riise leaves Reds for Roma

ROMA have completed the signing of Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise for just under £4million (€5m). The Norway international will join the capital club on July 1 on a four-year deal worth £2.2m (€2.8m). The statement continued: “AS Roma will also pay Liverpool Football Club the following sums: €100,000 per season should Roma qualify for the UEFA Champions League in 2009/10 and 2010/11. “Furthermore, Liverpool FC will also receive €75,000 for every 25 official matches the player participates in, up to a maximum of €300,000.” Riise leaves Merseyside after seven seasons with Liverpool, whom he joined from Ligue 1 side Monaco in 2001. The 27-year-old won the Champions League in 2005 and the FA Cup in 2006 in his time at Anfield. Riise, noted for his fierce shot and also effective in midfield, was a regular under former manager Gerard Houllier and in the early years of current boss Rafael Benitez’s reign. He established a reputation for spectacular goals, including one after just 45 seconds of the 2005 Carling Cup final against Chelsea and one in the following year’s FA Cup semi-finals, the Blues again the opponents. However, his 2006-07 campaign was overshadowed by an incident involving former team-mate Craig Bellamy at a training campaign in Portugal, for which the Welshman was disciplined. He endured an indifferent 2007-08 campaign, the nadir being when he scored an own goal in the final minute of his side’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Chelsea at Anfield.

David Villa admits interest in Liverpool move

Chelsea face a fight with Real Madrid and Liverpool for the highly-rated Valencia striker David Villa, but they will have to pay 40 million euros - around £32 million.
Villa, 26, admitted yesterday that he could be persuaded to move to England and that while Chelsea interested him, the prospect of teaming up with former Valencia coach Rafael Benitez and Spain strike partner Fernando Torres was an option.

"Liverpool and Chelsea are both big clubs with a lot of attraction," he said before adding, "Liverpool have a Spanish coach and I also have a lot of friends there.
"When Rafa was coach at Valencia and I was at Zaragoza there was contact about me joining Valencia but I couldn't arrive until the year after he left there."
Villa eventually signed for Valencia from Zaragoza in 2005 and has gone on to make 101 appearances for the club, scoring 58 goals.

Liverpool duo Kewell and Riise heading for the exit

AS Roma have entered talks with Liverpool defender John Arne Riise after agreeing a fee with the English club, reports BBC. The Norwegian would cost the Giallorossi about £4.75 million pounds should he join them.
Riise has won a trio of cups since joining Liverpool in 2001. He has helped them to the FA Cup and the League cup and was instrumental in his team’s miraculous run in the Champions League in 2005, when they went on to win the cup on penalties after coming back from a three goal deficit.
However, Riise no longer seems to be first choice left-back since the return to fitness of Fabio Aurelio and he is not willing to stay at the club as a back up.
The other Liverpool player heading for the exit is Harry Kewell. The Australian’s contract runs out this summer and he is free to hold talks with other clubs. Although he is thought to be willing to stay at Liverpool, it is not known whether Rafa Benitez would offer the injury plagues winger another contract.
Goal.com reports that Kewell would be viewed as a replacement for Mancini who looks set to join Inter this summer. The Liverpool winger would welcome a move to AS Roman provided he cannot find any suitable offers in England.

Barry demands Reds move

Gareth Barry has pleaded with Martin O’Neill to let him quit Aston Villa and join Liverpool.
The England midfielder has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Anfield while Kop boss Rafa Benitez has reportedly had two cash-plus-player bids turned down by Villa.
But the transfer moved a step closer as Barry took matters into his own hands and phoned boss O’Neill to demand he be allowed to join The Reds.
Barry’s agent Alex Black told The Sun: “Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England’s game in Trinidad and told him how he feels.
“At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.”
Barry had previously kept his counsel, but this latest move suggests the player is growing impatient with Villa’s efforts to keep him at the club.
The Midlands side have turned down bids believed to be worth £10 and £12 million and are reportedly holding out for nearer £15 million for their star performer.

Alonso keen on Juventus move

LIVERPOOL midfielder Xabi Alonso is waiting to hear from Juventus after admitting he would move to Turin.
The Spain international has been closely linked with a switch to the Serie A giants after four seasons at Anfield."I am waiting," Alonso told Gazzetta dello Sport from Spain's Euro 2008 training base in Neustift. "I know that Juve are interested and I also know there has been contact with Liverpool and with my agent. I am really very proud that a club so strong and historic as Juve like me. Juve is a very special club and one that I like."Alonso, 26, whose Anfield contract runs until 2012, said: "After four years in the Liga and four in the Premiership, to play in Italy would be like completing my career.

Dossena joins Liverpool

Udinese fullback Andrea Dossena has become the first Italian international to sign for Liverpool.
The players agent has confirmed that Dossena has passed his medical at Anfield earlier this week and expects the move to be finalised next week.
Speaking exclusively to skysports.com, Dossena's agent Federico Pastorello revealed his client's delight at signing for Liverpool.
"I understand he is the first Italian international to play for Liverpool - a great opportunity for him and he is really happy," Pastorello revealed.
Dossena is expected to finalise his transfer in the next 48 hours before being unveiled by The Reds next week in a deal believed to be worth around £7million.
"He had his medical on Wednesday and we are just awaiting the formalities of that but we would think everything will be signed very shortly," he continued.
"An agreement between the clubs was hard, but we all found it and everything is now ready."
The 26-year-old had a tremendous campaign with Udinese, which included his debut for Italy, and Pastorello admits Liverpool beat a number of clubs to seal his signature.
"There were many teams interested in him," he confirmed.
"He was the best left-back in Italy last year, arguably along with the boy [Juan]Vargas at Catania.
"So it was natural that there will be interest in the best left-back in Serie A, but to have the chance to work with a coach like Rafa Benitez was something he could not turn down.
"That was an important aspect of his decision and he cannot wait to get started."
Liverpool have paid £7 million to capture the exiciting fullback and he had a clutch of suitors chasing his signature. Dossena earnt rave reviews for his perfomances on the left flank throughout last season and becomes manager Rafa Benetiz’s second signing following the free transfer of the Swiss right back, Philipp Degen from Borussia Dortmund.
The move for Dossena seems to spell the end of John Arne Riise’s Liverpool career after 348 appearances.
