Rafael Benitez has dismissed reports that he is interested in signing Roma midfielder Alessandro Mancini.
The Brazilian's agent talked up the possibility of the move despite Liverpool having splashed out almost £50m on Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun in the last two weeks.
However, while Benitez's involvement in the transfer market does not appear to be over at this stage it does not appear that the winger is one of the names on his shopping list.
The Liverpool boss said: "I was reading stories about Mancini. I can say that Liverpool will not be offering any money for this player."
Mancini is currently seeking a more lucrative contract at the Stadio Olimpico, which may account for his agents comments on the possible switch to the Premiership.
