Carson assured over Liverpool future

Scott Carson has been told he has a future at Liverpool Football Club.
The England Under-21 international spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, and after starring for the Three Lions during the European Championships, he was rumoured to be set for another loan spell elsewhere. However, Reds boss Rafael Benitez insists the former Leeds United goalkeeper will challenge regular number one Jose Pepe Reina fro the number one shirt at Anfield next season. "I was speaking to Scott recently and I told him he will be part of our first team squad next season," Benitez told the club's official website. "He must fight with Pepe Reina now for a starting place. “We knew when we fought off Chelsea to sign him he was a talented goalkeeper. He got some good experience last season and now he is coming back to us."
