Djibril Cisse's agent has confirmed the Liverpool striker is close to securing a permanent switch to Marseille.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez indicated last week he was only prepared to sell the Frenchman, who moved to Anfield for £14million in the summer of 2004, rather than let him go out on another loan deal.
And Marseille appear to have won the race to land him, beating off competition from Bolton, Portsmouth and a late approach from West Ham.
Cisse's agent Ranko Stojic has confirmed the move after admitting Marseille was the player's preferred destination because they are in the Champions League next term.
He now expects the France international to complete the formalities of the deal in the next few days.
It is unclear just how much Marseille will pay for the 25-year-old but Benitez was hoping to raise up to £6million to help fund his big-money move for Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres.
