Israeli ace waiting on Reds swoop

Yossi Benayoun is waiting before signing a new five-year deal at West Ham because he wants to see if Liverpool step up their interest.
The 27-year-old Israeli international, who was due to sign the contract at Upton Park this summer, has continually been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has already had a bid snubbed for Benayoun, but was expected to up his offer in an effort to complete a deal.
However nothing has been forthcoming in the past week and the player is now stuck in limbo as it appears he would like to know if Liverpool are going to firm up their interest before he pledges his long-term future to the Hammers.
Benayoun's agent Ronen Katzav told Sky sports: "We are still waiting.
"The deal is still in place with West Ham. We are waiting to see if the two clubs can come to an agreement.
"I am not going to say Yossi is desperate for a move at all, but it is only natural - any player in the world would be attracted by Liverpool."
